In Minneapolis on Sunday night, a physical incident led to the removal of five players and two coaches during a game. The clash occurred in the second quarter amid a contest between the Minnesota team and their Detroit counterparts.
From the Detroit team, head coach J.B. Bickerstaff, center Isaiah Stewart, forward Ron Holland II, and guard Marcus Sasser were dismissed during play. On the Minnesota side, forward Naz Reid and guard Donte DiVincenzo, along with assistant coach Pablo Prigioni, also left the game. The commotion began with 8:36 remaining in the half while Detroit held a 39–30 lead. Moments earlier, Stewart had been penalized after forcefully making contact with DiVincenzo once the play had stopped. Soon after, Holland was called for an infraction when he altered the ball’s trajectory away from Reid close to the baseline, sparking additional conflict.
Bickerstaff remarked that the situation exceeded acceptable limits. He emphasized that his players were quick to stand behind one another—a principle that is deeply ingrained in his team’s practices.
