Ohio’s capital city, Columbus, will be the site of esports stadium company Glytch’s second North American stadium and broadcast studio.
In the next seven years, the company hopes to construct 32 stadiums across the U.S. and Canada, each housing a professional esports team.
Glytch’s chief visionary officer, Michael Williams stated that “Ohio has a booming esports fan base and we are proud to be serving the Buckeye State with a true, professional esports stadium… We firmly believe this is the next step in esports.”
Ohio is seeing a rise in esports popularity.
Belong Gaming Arena at Polaris has been one of several gaming centers that opened in central Ohio due to a burgeoning interest in the professional gaming scene.
Glytch, the Buckeye Group, Populous, and Scenario are all partners in the Columbus stadium development. A break ground is expected in 2023, followed by an opening in 2024-2025.
In addition to hosting concerts, comedy shows, and other community events, each venue will serve as a concert venue.
