Texan’s Massive Video Game Collection Earns World Record Title

    Published:

The Guinness World Records have crowned Antonio Romero Monteiro of Richmond, Texas as the world’s most extensive video game collection owner. His record was initially set in December 2021, when he had a total of 20,139 video games. More than 100 video game consoles are included.

About 4,000 more games have been added to his collection since then, with a total value of $2.1 million.

“Originally my collection focused on purchasing and repurchasing some of the games I played in my youth… Slowly it expanded to include games I always wanted to play, but hadn’t had the opportunity to, and eventually expanded to completing collections for individual systems.”

“I see video games as a form of art, where creativity and storytelling transcend to limitless possibilities. Each generation of video game systems gives further potential to realize creativity and share boundless stories, challenges and experiences,” he exclaimed.

He even built a custom database to keep track of which games he already owns and which he still needs to purchase. His current goal is to acquire the last 98 games out of over 1,500 in his Nintendo DS collection.

He concluded by mentioning that his favorite game is Super Castlevania IV, which he played on Super Nintendo.
